I certainly agree with this: If the student enjoys the activity, s/he will want to do it over and over again, and if the teacher allows that, the student will benefit. From my experiences, whenever I see them very much involved in the activity - wanting to do it over and over again, I know they enjoy a lot and benefit from it, too. That's also my way of gauging if they get something from what we do and really have fun while learning new things, tricks and techniques.
