Expect Things of Yourself

If I had a separate room for a studio, I would hang this quote by basketball player, Michael Jordan, somewhere in there.

You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.

But since my studio is really my living room, there’s just no place for this great quote. I do know I will be reciting this sentence to one or two lagging and frustrated students. What about you? When students start to lose the big picture, what do you say?

I think you can make bookmarks out of the quotation and give it to some of your older students, maybe as a prize from the flashcard games. OR, make a corner for post-ups so that your students can go and look at them, however young they are. If they ask what it means, you can explain to them =) It’s a good ’seed’ to be planted in their minds from young.
