I tried it out today. The kids loved it and it didn't take very much time. I found my younger students (6-8ish) had trouble keeping to the metronome. Next time I will try rhythm sticks as they are louder. The older students (9-12ish) didn't have a problem. One thing as a side note. Nobody likes to be the first loser, so each time someone was eliminated, I gave them a mini candy bar as a consolation prize. All the students ended up with one, but it softened the blow to the first ones.

This is a great game idea. I'm all over this for my group lessons on Wednesday!
You could possibly pull the next student in for a few minutes to do the game- kind of overlapping each other. Not nearly as exciting as a group, though.

Great idea Rebecca! I will definitely try this one.

By the way- I usually get my "brilliant" ideas when I'm laying down for a nap or ready for bed... ;)

So how did you end up modifying this for a private lesson?

Rebecca, I saw John Schmidt in concert only once, but I love him. I think I'll get one of his CDs. You know when I saw him, Ryan was on his mission and I remember that I thought that his looks and mannerisms reminded me so much of Ryan. Do you think so?
