…to do the same things that kids are allowed to do?

If I’m sitting in a private lesson and I’m beginning to get restless, why can’t I stand up to continue the flashcard exercise, rather than sit still in my seat? Why can’t I spin around and around on the piano bench? Why can’t I announce that I just don’t care to do the thing my teacher is requesting I do?

*Sigh*

I know a teacher who fits this description. If there is such a thing as Adult ADD (and I believe there is), this guy has got it. I remember once during a staff meeting someone’s car alarm started going off. It was the kind that just used the car horn: BEEP! (pause) BEEP! (pause) BEEP! – I looked over at him, and he was making facial contortions in time with the beeping. I don’t think he was doing this to try to get attention; he just couldn’t control himself!
