Recently, I’ve had two good compliments. I received a nice letter from a mother of a student. She wrote,
Thank you so much for teaching my daughter piano. She has enjoyed herself and gained confidence in her music.
The letter then goes on to tell me that this student is moving out of state and will no longer be taking piano lessons. Oh sad day. This particular student had the WORST confidence in herself, and I was really happy to read that I had helped develop it at least a little bit.
The second compliment was from a mother who has two children taking lessons from me. They are both very involved in sports and other activities. When it was coming to a particularly busy time, the mother told her children they may not be able to do all their activities this year. Her son said,
I don’t care what I have to drop, as long as I get to keep scouts and piano.
I took that as a great compliment; that he was enjoying piano lessons so much that he would give up another activity in order to stay involved in piano.
It makes me feel so good when I can help my students progress and enjoy the piano. What great compliments have you received?
