Vanessa, over at www.inevergrewup.net is an expert on all things about entertaining children.  She told me about this fun game from the Little Einsteins portion of the Disney website.  ”Mission to Learn” teaches music history ALONG WITH art history to little kids!

Oh it’s my dream come true!  My two favorite worlds of art and music are combined into one fabulous little childish interactive instruction moment.  There are several mini episodes that talk about artists (like Van Gogh, one of my faves) and musicians, as well as culture and world history.  If you don’t want to watch the episode (and judging by your ability to read this post, you are probably at an age where you may find yourself a teensy bit bored with the slow pace of those silly Little Einsteins), you can still click on several icons to learn fun facts.

For example, I learned that the first four notes of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 are also morse code for the letter V.  So BBC radio used the notes to stand for Victory during World War II!  Did you know that?  Probably.

They also have a game where you fly through the air catching the notes of songs by composers such as Brahms or a game where you match an instrument’s sound to it’s picture.

I think any kid under 8 would have a good time with these fun little games.
