I was getting a little frustrated with one beginner student the other day.  She was sitting at the piano with her hands folded together while I sat by her saying over and over, “Ok.  Hands together now.  Hands together.  Ok.  Hands together.”  It took me a minute to realize what I was saying and how she was understanding it.  She thought she was obeying me perfectly by folding her hands neatly together!  Boy, am I slow!
